The homebuying process
Six steps to your
new front door.
Every home purchase is different, but the shape of the process is the same.
Here is how it works, in plain language.
Get pre-approved
Before you start looking, talk to a lender about what you can afford. A pre-approval letter tells sellers you are a serious buyer and gives you a clear budget for your search. Your lender will walk you through loan options, interest rates, and the costs involved.
Define your search
Make a list of what matters most: where you want to live, how many bedrooms and bathrooms you need, and the features you can't live without. Your agent will help you turn that list into a focused search across the neighborhoods and communities that fit your life.
Tour homes
This is the fun part. Visit homes in person when you can, and use video tours to short-list candidates. Take notes, compare, and keep an open mind: the right home is usually the one that checks the boxes that matter most to you.
Make an offer
When you find the right home, your agent prepares a written offer with the price and terms you are comfortable with. They will explain how comparable sales and current market conditions shape a fair offer, and they will negotiate for you if the seller comes back with a counteroffer.
Inspections
After your offer is accepted, a home inspection is your chance to understand the property's condition. Your inspector will check the major systems and structure; your agent will help you review the report and decide what, if anything, to ask the seller to address.
Close
The final stretch includes the appraisal, final loan approval, title review, your final walkthrough, and signing the paperwork. Your agent and closing team will guide you through each step, right up to the day you get the keys.
One honest note up front: no one can guarantee which home you will find,
what you will pay, or how the market will move. What a MORE Realty agent
can promise is honest guidance, clear communication, and advocacy at every
step of your purchase.
